Morganite stands out among other stones not only for its beauty, but also for its magical properties. It is also used in the treatment of various diseases. In order for the mineral to truly be a strong amulet for you, it is advisable to be among those to whom it matches the zodiac sign. However, even if astrologers do not recommend such a talisman to you personally, this is not a reason to refuse it. Let's find out more about this wonderful stone.
Story
Pink beryl has been known since time immemorial. He is revered by Tibetan Buddhists and American Indians under different names.
The modern history of the stone starts from the beginning of the twentieth century.
Russia and America are involved in it:
- In America it is named after John Morgan. This American top industrialist and banker became famous for his personally collected collections of art objects. However, his true passion was the science of stones. He immersed himself in gemology at a professional level. He collected an outstanding mineralogical collection, which he donated to the Museum of Natural History (New York). American mineralogy recognized his merits by giving the new stone, found in California, the name “morganite.” This happened two years before Morgan's death. And George Kunz, a gemologist and employee of the Tiffany jewelry house, described the stone and suggested the name.
- In Russia, a similar mineral (discovered earlier than in America) became sparrowite. In this way, the name of the Russian mineralogist Viktor Ivanovich Vorobyov, who tragically died on the expedition, was immortalized.
- At the end of the last millennium, mineralists made an attempt to “optimize” the name, replacing morganite, sparrowite and others with one term “pink emerald”. Fortunately, she was unsuccessful.
Today the English-language international name for the stone is morganite. Both terms are in use in Russia.
The pride of the Museum of the Mining Institute (St. Petersburg) is the Ural morganite agglomerate. Under ultraviolet light, this giant (5 kg) glows pale violet. Morganite weighing more than 23 kg was discovered in the USA (Maine, 1989). Surprisingly, the quality of the stone, called “Rose of Maine,” is jewelry-grade.
Where is Morganite mined?
Morganite stone is still mined in the mountains of California, where it was discovered at the beginning of the last century. Other crystal deposits are also known:
- Brazil;
- Madagascar;
- Republic of South Africa;
- Namibia;
- Afghanistan;
- China.
As for the Russian Federation, the only known large deposit of stone remains Sherlovaya Kopy, in the Ural Mountains. It was here that morganite was discovered by Academician Vorobyov. Occasionally, single nuggets of pink emerald are found in Transbaikalia.
Physico-chemical characteristics
From a chemist's point of view, the mineral morganite is a pink variety of beryl. That is, a silicate with impurities of manganese, lithium, cesium. Their ratio in the composition creates the color of the stone.
Chemical formula | Be3Al2Si6O18; contains impurities Li, Cs, K, Rb, Mn3+ |
Selection form | prismatic crystals |
Color | Various shades of pink, varying in intensity |
Transparency | transparent, translucent |
Hardness | 7-7,5 |
origin of name | In honor of the American banker and collector of jewelry stones J. P. Morgan (1873-1913), who donated his collection to the American Museum of Natural History in New York. |
Like all beryls, the color of morganite is unstable: in direct sunlight the stone fades. When heated, it can become goshenite (colorless beryl).
The color of morganite cannot be corrected with x-rays, since radioactive cesium will retain this property.
Lithotherapists advise, but there is radioactivity ☢️
The list of medicinal properties of sparrowvit is quite extensive:
- The gem reduces arrhythmia (those who have experienced it know what an unpleasant phenomenon this is).
- Helps fight stress.
- Helps in the treatment of urinary tract diseases.
- It is advisable to wear morganite for women suffering from gynecological diseases. In this case, place the gem in the abdomen or lower back area.
- Men who are concerned about the quantity and quality of their muscles will also find Morganite useful. It will prevent cramps and speed up metabolism.
Important: a gem can not only heal, but also harm. This applies to large, richly colored stones. Cesium gives this bright strawberry color. It is the source of radioactivity. Therefore, advice: do not buy “merchant beauty” morganites. If you bought it, check it for radioactivity. And just in case, do not wear these Vorobievite jewelry next to the thyroid gland, moles, lymph nodes, do not create a “personal Chernobyl” for yourself.
Jewelry gem
Morganite has found application only in jewelry and among collectors.
Jewelry value is determined by the dimensions, color, purity, and quality of the crystal cut:
- The price of diamond-cut morganite on the world market is $55–250 per 1 carat. This applies even to stones that are a fraction of a carat.
- The most expensive ones are coolish, tea-rose colored specimens.
- Microscopic natural inclusions, creating the effect of silky shimmer, increase the cost of the stone.
Ring with morganite
At a special price are large pink crystals of absolute transparency from Madagascar, Afghanistan, Brazilian mines and from California.
Variety of beryls
Beryl has enchanted people for many thousands of years. Usually the color of the gem is bluish-green. The very word βήρυλλος in ancient Greek means a whole concept - “a precious stone the color of sea water.” One of its varieties is called aquamarine (sea water).
Another variety of beryl is emerald .
In the Thomas Mountains (Utah, USA), a rare crimson-violet beryl was discovered, named after the discoverer Maynard Bixby bixbite (1897). Over time, thick cherry bixbite was discovered by prospectors in one of the mines in New Mexico. The crystals of this gem are mainly lamellar.
Golden yellow beryl is called heliodor.

Features of wearing and care
Radioactively dangerous specimens of morganite are identified by their bright red color and large size. But they are not sold legally, but are stored in special isolated premises.
Jewelry with morganite
However, contact with jewelry should be taken into account these properties of morganite:
- In earrings or tiaras, small delicate pink inserts or beads are preferred.
- The best morganite jewelry is rings, bracelets, brooches, and long beads.
- You need to take care of the stone delicately. It is cleaned with a soft damp sponge with baby soap and rinsed under running water at room temperature.
- The only neighbor of morganite products in the box may be rock crystal.
A box with morganite jewelry should not be placed in the sun or near heat sources.
Compatibility with other stones
Morganite has an active biofield, so if there are other stones near it, an exchange of energy occurs, which can end in a “quarrel.” The magical qualities of two minerals come into conflict, real chaos begins in the house, and it seems that everything is literally falling out of hand.
If the stones, on the contrary, have a similar biofield, the magical powers of both representatives of the underground kingdom are doubled, and the talisman acquires truly phenomenal properties.
What to combine morganite with:
- peach morganite + pearls or carnelian – a female love amulet that helps build harmonious family relationships; has a beneficial effect on health during pregnancy;
- light pink morganite + amethyst or rock crystal - a talisman of yogis, mystics and psychics; used for meditation and clearing thoughts; helps to achieve enlightenment, protects against magical attacks;
- morganite + turquoise or ruby – a talisman for “luring” money;
- morganite + onyx or garnet – an amulet of victory and power; promotes rapid career advancement and develops the gift of persuasion.
Important! Vorobievit is in conflict with the “heavyweights” of the magical world: topaz, emerald, chrysolite. Possessing a powerful biofield, any of these stones will suppress morganite with personal power. It is not recommended to store a pink amulet in the same box with amber or obsidian. The stones will quarrel, bringing chaos to the cozy atmosphere of your home.
How to spot a fake
Under the guise of natural morganite, natural but cheaper stones are offered; glass or plastic; synthetic material:
- In the first case, the “understudies” of morganite are often kunzite, spinel or colored quartz. It is possible to find differences only with special equipment. Although spinel or kunzite are also expensive and beautiful.
- Plastic is recognized by its lightness and, like glass, rapid heating in the hands.
- A separate topic is artificial morganite. This is a high-tech product, nanoalloy, created by hydrothermal or other methods. Its main advantage over natural morganite is complete radiation sterility. You can even wear short beads or a massive necklace with large beads all the time. However, as a magical or healing instrument, morganite sital is useless.
Natural morganite can be distinguished from a fake by the following characteristics: when heated, it becomes discolored, under X-rays it becomes bright red, and does not sink in a container with bromine. In reality, such methods are only available in the laboratory. And no one will discolor an expensive gem.
Therefore, it is better to buy jewelry with morganite or collectible material in trusted stores. Sellers who value personal reputation indicate the origin of the stone in the product description as natural, “ceramic glass” or “gt” (that is, hydrothermal).
Varieties
Morganite with a light peach tint is considered an expensive crystal. It costs more than a diamond. For decoration use a pink or peach colored gem.
A significant amount of cesium in the mineral gives it a bright red hue. The density of morganite is high, so color correction of the mineral cannot be carried out using X-rays. Stones with this color have a high background radiation.
Faceted Morganite
Cesium has the ability to actively collect radioactive substances throughout the life of the stone. These specimens are prohibited from being cut, and transportation must be carried out with the utmost care. For this reason, the use of x-ray color correction for these specimens is prohibited. Otherwise, morganite will absorb all gamma radiation and will be considered dangerous to human health.
Morganite with a light shade is safe and has a number of healing properties.
According to the standards, a slight correction in the color of the stone due to heat treatment is allowed. The heating temperature is 400 degrees, but this procedure is carried out extremely rarely.
Therapeutic effect
Lithotherapists have studied the main healing properties of morganite:
- The gem relieves pain from radiculitis, especially in the lower back and back.
- A gold ring with morganite helps to quickly get rid of female diseases.
- The pink color of the stone calms the nerves and induces peace. Helps overcome stress.
- The stone activates the brain, improving memory and reaction in case of force majeure.
- The gem even treats chronic heart diseases.
A pendant or ring with morganite helps you not to be nervous and not get lost in extreme conditions, during a casting, interview, or exam.
Suitable for everyone ♏
The gem will have a gentle effect on all signs of the Zodiac.
Vorobievite is ideal for water signs: Scorpios, Pisces, Cancers will find their love (and get rid of longing for an unfulfilled one), they will look at the world more cheerfully.
For Zodiac signs under the auspices of Fire, the delicate energy of morganite will allow them to be less vivid in their expression of emotions (this is especially true for Aries). In addition, these charismatic people will be protected from envy under the auspices of Sparrow.
We recommend: UVAROVIT - an unusual green garnet from the Urals
Morganite is also suitable for earthly zodiac signs. Morganite will wash away their deep conviction that “what you can touch is valuable” and will bring a little romance into the lives of practical children of the Zodiac.
Magic properties
Adherents of yoga and other teachings and practices of the East consider morganite to be a gift from a Higher Power.
Help with daily life
At the everyday level, the magical properties of morganite are used to build relationships, self-improvement, and other high goals:
- The mineral “tells” the owner that any troubles will eventually end.
- The owner of the stone will stop needlessly tormenting himself, will trust himself more, and fight more decisively for love or justice.
- He will become a clairvoyant, able to “read” the secret plans of competitors, colleagues, and those around him.
The magic of morganite attracts attention, favor or passion from management or people of the opposite sex. This is especially useful for careerists and those looking for their soul mate.
- Morganite helps couples whose relationship is on the verge of collapse. A pink gem will bring peace, cementing a family hearth or an informal love union.
Considering the significance of the stone as a family amulet, morganite is stored separately from other jewelry, away from prying eyes.
Talismans
The appearance and frame of the item with morganite matters:
- Inserting a ring, earrings or brooch will ward off the evil eye and dispel the flow of other negativity directed at the owner.
- Morganites in silver, especially a ring, will suit a creative person, regardless of their field of activity.
Peach Morganite is called the stone of happiness. If you are lucky enough to buy a product with such an insert, good luck will accompany you in everything.
- A pendant with pink beryl is a ladies' love talisman, a bracelet with an orange stone is suitable for business-minded, self-sufficient men.
The morganite ring has become the leader as an engagement ring, displacing the traditional diamond.
Premonition
The Morgan family has a mystical relic. In an antique box, standing next to a yellow morganite crystal, a ticket for the Titanic liner, yellowed either from time or from the reflection of the gem, is stored, where the port and landing date are indicated: Southampton, Britain, April 10, 1912, 10:00 .
John Morgan was supposed to go on that same ill-fated flight, but for some reason he decided to stay at the French resort of Aix-les-Bains.
But on the luxury ship, Morgan owned a luxury cabin with an individual promenade deck. In addition, the millionaire invested large sums in the construction of the ship.
They say that Morgan once answered the question without words why he never boarded the Titanic.
The millionaire tapped his finger on the pink morganite crystal that invariably adorned the mantelpiece in his office, and turned the conversation to another topic.
By the way, Morgan often used the services of an astrologer, who, at the request of the tycoon, compiled horoscopes regarding various expected events and prospects for the financial market.
One of his contemporaries recalled that Morgan spoke about this as follows: “In order to earn several million, a lucky chance, a favorable combination of circumstances, is enough. To become a billionaire, you will definitely need an astrologer."
