I couldn’t do anything with my hands, and now sometimes I forget that I don’t have them - I use the phone, cook, travel and master jewelry making,” says Victor.

A year ago, a Blagoveshchensk resident received a grant to open a jewelry workshop in St. Petersburg, where they will train people with disabilities.

“Many disabled people live on one pension, they are not hired, so I decided to create a place where they could learn at least basic things. So that everyone has the opportunity to make a ring like this from a nut using an ordinary jigsaw for 300 rubles. I was inspired by the works of a disabled woman without fingers, she is a foreigner. I was unable to implement my plan, I could not find a suitable premises. Maybe in the future it will be possible to do something,” says Viktor Orlov.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Amur resident worked as a courier and studied jewelry making. He managed to get into classes at international schools, and ordinary workers from jewelry workshops also helped.

“I came up and asked for help, asked how to insert a stone, for example. They always met me halfway and asked why I needed this. Everyone was all for it,” says Victor.

In the summer, Viktor Orlov returned to Blagoveshchensk. Now he lives with his mother, does not work anywhere, but is still engaged in jewelry making and hopes that “where he was born, he will come in handy.”

“I do it for a long time, slowly, it takes a lot of effort, you need to tune in to each product, and this is more difficult. I don’t have certificates, it’s clear that I can’t keep up with a person with full hands, either in speed or quality. But suddenly someone will be interested in sloppy work, someone will find it cool. Here I made a ring, I have never seen anything like it. Maybe I’ll make copies and sell them or just show that it was made by us,” says Victor.
